Bistek Tagalog is a dish of pieces of marinated in soy sauce and calamansi sirloin, usually flattened with a meat tenderizing tool, cooked in soy sauce and onions. Impress the family with their baon by preparing a saucy Bistek dish.

1/2 kg sirloin, thinly sliced
4 tbsp vegetable oil
2 pcs red onion, cut into 1/4-inch thick rings
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1/4 cup calamansi juice
1 cup water
4 tbsp oyster sauce (Datu Puti sachet)
salt and pepper to taste
  1. Season sirloin with salt, soy sauce and pepper. Set aside.

  2. Heat a pan and drizzle 1 tbsp of oil. Sauté onion for 1 minute. Remove and set aside.

  3. .Heat another tbsp of oil in the same pan and sear sirloin in batches until golden brown. Add garlic, calamansi juice and water and oyster sauce. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Remove cover and let the sauce reduce. 

  4. Transfer into a serving plate, top with sautéed onions and toasted garlic and serve.
